I have a pretty good system worked out in the morning as far as getting everything out the door to take Owen to school. I normally put him in the car and take one load with me, buckle him in, and then run back in to get everything else and hop in the car to leave. A special moment every morning is when I come back out the second time, close the door, and go halfway down the steps in our garage. I guess Owen hears me because when I come down looking at him and pause on the steps, he gives me the biggest smile. What a start to the week/day!
Well, this morning, I did my usual system -- and the first step that is key is putting on my shoes before heading out the first time. Some of our shoes are lined up in the laundry so that we don't track things in the house. So, I put on my flip-flops this morning since I had no plans to go to the job site today....and out the door!
When I drop Owen off at school, you go in the room and I have to slip my shoes off because its a shoeless environment. So, I did that, took Owen to play and am putting bottles, etc in the refrig. I think someone walked in the door at that point, I look over and I see it -- my mistake this morning.
I walked out the door with two different shoes on! Ok, so it's not like I was walking around with a red shoe and a black shoe. And to my credit they are the same brand, but one is really old and worn out and the other is obviously newer. But still...
So, I quickly say goodbye to Owen, slip my shoes back on and scurry out the door -- quickly -- hoping no one looks at my feet! :) I guess it's mildly humorous, but I am still horrified that I actually did that and didn't notice. I am officially over 30 and loosing it :)
Here is a picture. Um, can you see a difference?!?
