"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength" Deuteronomy 6:5

It's been a while, hasn't it?

Why is it that so many of us set out with the full intention of following through with something, only to not do it?  Is it just our nature?  Is it that we get distracted by other responsibilities or goals because we fill our lives with too many??  Or maybe it's just me that can't seem to do it.

When my little one was born, I was thinking that I could 'blog' about his life so that I could recount the precious moments and be able to look back on them.  And now, 9 months later, I got nothing on this blog!

Oh well, life goes on....and life has been amazing!!  The past 9 months have blown my mind in so many ways.  A little baby is such a miracle and it is an honor to be able to witness it first hand.  How they just develop on their own, I feel like no thanks to me or anyone else.  I haven't felt much like a 'mother' yet, because I feel like with that title comes the word, 'no' and discipline - and the real challenges of setting boundaries and limits.  But now Owen is getting into the stage where he is learning some of the things he shouldn't do.  Of course he's too young to remember, but we are beginning to use the word young kids become so familiar with at this early stage.

One of Owen's favorite 'no-no' things is our entertainment system.  We have a tower of electronic boxes that have yet to be childproofed (blocked off) that catch his eyes - every.single.day.  He finds it amusing to crawl to it, pull up on the little table that supports these boxes, and turn the volume knob.  All the way up!  If you aren't watching him, you are now - for sure.  Then when you walk up to him and say 'no-no' and try to divert his attention to something like one of his boring toys, he goes for it again.  And again. :)

I will say the older Owen gets, the more adventurous he is getting, and thus, exciting our lives are becoming.  I am sure we will have so many other 'no-nos' in the future, but for now it's fun to see him exploring everything around him, even if some of them end with our ears ringing.  Welcome to motherhood :)
