Bill and I ventured to Banner Elk, NC this past weekend for a mini vacation. We were able to stay in the same little cabin we stayed in last year, which is tucked into the mountain between Boone and Banner Elk. We were egerly anticipating the trip as it got closer because the mountains had gotten a lot of snow the days prior to our arrival. The unfortunate thing was that when we first got there we couldn't drive up to our cabin because of the ice and snow. I guess that's what we get for wanted a lot of snow when we got there. We ended up going to the store to buy salt so we could de-ice some of it and try to power up the steep hill. After much work, we were able to get up the hill!
On Friday we went skiing at Sugar Mountain and were a lot more daring this year almost hitting all of the trails. Our muscles were really sore after a full day of skiing, so we didn't dare try to ski the next day. Instead we enjoyed the nice warm weather and drove around the area and did a little bit of hiking.
We hope to make this mini vacation an annual tradition! This makes two years and counting...Will post pictures soon.
